Bran Muffins

1 cup raw wheat bran
3/4 cup flour
3/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp baking soda
3/4 cup buttermilk (or 3/4 cup milk + 1 tsp lemon juice)
1 egg
1/4 cup cooking oil

Mix together just until liquid is absorbed into the bran. Spoon into 9 muffin cups. Bake at 425F for 20 minutes.
